Gives cohesion to vv.5-6, forms a bridge between the two middle sections of the psalm. See discussion below.  +, Number patters appear in each section of the psalm. See discussion below.  +, The connection between v.4 and v.7 reinforces the [[#Large-scale structures|chiastic structure]] of the psalm.  +,
Inclusio  +
This feature forms/reinforces a (chiastic) correspondence between sections 1 and 4.  +, Initiates new sections (structural anaphora), especially when used in direct address (vv. 2a, 4a, 8a)  +, This feature forms/reinfornces a contrastive correspondence between the first and fourth sections.  +,
Microstructure: structures lines 8ab into a unit. Macrostructure: may mark the emotional climax of the psalm.  +, structures lines into units (bicola; vv.6ab, 8cd). On a macrostructural level, may form inclusio: the first (רַבּוּ) and final verbs of the psalm are qatal (שִבַּרְתָּ).  +, gives cohesion to first section (vv.2-3); anadiplosis (v.3a, 4b)  +,
Plurals within the first line of each section (anaphora). The lack of plural nouns in v.2 indicates a measure of discontinuity with v.1.  +, הָאִישׁ (singular), the topic of the first section, is contrasted with the wicked (plural), which are the topic of the second section.  +, The connection between בַּעֲצַת(v.1b) and בַּעֲדַת (v.5b) suggests a correspondence between these lines.  +
The recursion of the divine name יהוה as a vocative at the beginning of a line (vv. 4a, 9a) marks the onset of the two major sections in the body of the psalm (S.1: vv.4-8; S.2: vv.9-12). If the divine name occurs also at the end of v.11d (so LXX), then it functions in this verse as well as in v.7b to close the parallel sub-sections 2.3 and 3.3.  +, בֹּקֶר is repeated twice in fronted position for emphasis (cf. Ps. 1:2).  +, gives cohesion to the psalm; Yahweh "hates/abominates/does not delight in" (vv.5-7) the wicked; but he surrounds with "favor" those who "love" his name (vv.12-13)  +,
The sounds guttural + sonorant/sibilant give cohesion to the first three sections of the psalm. They seem to be particularly associated with the psalmist's dire situation (vv.2-3; 7-8). Where the lament is the deepest (vv.7-8), the sounds are especially prominent. When lament gives way to confidence (section 4), the sounds disappear. The sudden shift in mood is thus accompanied by a shift in sound.  +, The sharp discontinuity between sections 3 and 4 (see above table cell) is smoothed over by this point of continuity. The adjacent words (צררי – סורו) is an case of anadiplosis.  +
anaphora  +, Volitives are used to mark the opening of new sections (anaphora, vv.2, 5, 9). Section 3, which is unique in a number of ways (e.g., 1cs verbs, rare vocabulary, vivid imagery, emotional despair), is the only exception to this pattern.  +, This feature binds the whole psalm together in an inclusion.  +
Words with double ''m'' occur only in vv.8ab,9a. This fact may support the argument for grouping v.9a with v.8ab rather than with v.9bc.  +
aperture; contrast with previous section  +, aperture (v.10a)  +, aperture (v.4a, 10a); peak? (v.6a); climax? (v.7c)  +
gives cohesion to v.11 (plural participles) and to vv.12-14 (singular participles)  +, gives cohesion to vv.8-11 and v.19; creates discontinuity with what precedes (v.8a)  +, gives cohesion to vv.5-7 and to vv.16-17; creates discontinuity with what precedes (v.16)  +,
gives cohesion to section 2.2 (vv.5-7) and 3.3 (v.12)  +, gives cohesion to section 3.3 (forms tetracolon)  +, gives cohesion to section 2 (vv.4-8)  +,
gives cohesion to vv.10-11  +, gives cohesion to vv.8-9; may mark the peak of the psalm, which focuses on Yahweh's ("your", 2ms) loyal love, reverence, house, holiness, righteousness, and pathway.  +, gives cohesion to section 1 (v.2-3)  +
