For you are not a god pleased with wickedness. :Evil will not sojourn with you. :6. Boasters will not stand before your eyes. :You hate all workers of evil. :7. You will destroy speakers of falsehood. :YHWH abhors a person of bloodshed and treachery. :8. But I, in the greatness of your loyalty, will go to your house. :I will bow down toward your holy temple in fear of you. :9. YHWH, lead me in your righteousness :because of my enemies. :Make your way straight before me. :10. Make them bear their guilt, God. :Let them fall on account of their designs. :Drive them out because of the greatness of their crimes, :for they have rebelled against you. :12. And let all those who take refuge in you rejoice. :Let them shout forever, and may you shelter them, :and let those who love you exult in you. :13. For you bless the righteous one. :YHWH, like a large shield, you surround him with favour.   +

How long will I make futile plans? :[How long] will sorrow be daily in my heart? :How long will my enemy be exalted over me? :4. Consider! Answer me, YHWH my God! :Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death, :5. lest my enemy say, ‘I have overpowered him!’ :[lest] my adversaries rejoice because I am shaken. :6. But I have put my trust in your loyalty. :Let my heart rejoice because of your salvation! :I will sing to YHWH, because he has repaid me!   +

You will destroy their offspring from the earth, :and their descendants from humankind. :12. Because even if they planned evil against you :[and] they devised a plot, they would not succeed. :13. But I trust you, YHWH. :I say, “You are my God.” :16. My times are in your hand. :Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from my pursuers! :17. Shine your face upon your servant! :Save me by your faithfulness. :18. YHWH, do not let me be ashamed because I have called you! :May the evil ones be ashamed! :May they go silently to Sheol! :19. May lying lips be unable to speak :–those that speak insolence against the righteous, with arrogance and contempt. :20. How many are your good things :which you have stored up for those who fear you, :[and which] you have performed for those who take refuge in you :for all people to see! :21. Now, I know that YHWH has granted victory to his anointed. :He will answer him from his holy heaven :with the saving mighty deeds of his right hand. :8. Also, prevent your servant from committing presumptuous sins! :Do not let them rule over me! Then I will be blameless :and innocent of great crime. :15. Princesses are among your treasures; :a queen has taken a stand at your right hand in the gold of Ophir. :11. Hear, daughter, and see and incline your ear, :and forget your people and your father’s household, :12. so that the king will desire your beauty, :because he is your husband, and bow down to him, :13. and Daughter Tyre, the richest of people, will seek your favour with a gift. :14. But I am a worm and not a man; :I am scorned by mankind and despised by people. :8. Everyone who sees me mocks me; :they open their mouth wide; they shake their head. :9. “Commit it to YHWH! - Let him rescue him, :Let him deliver him because he is pleased with him.” :10. However, you are the one who took me out of the womb, :who made me feel secure upon my mother’s breasts. :11. I have been cast upon you from the womb; :you have been my God from my mother’s womb. :12. Don’t be far from me, :because trouble is near; :because there is no one helping. :13. Many bulls have surrounded me; :mighty ones of Bashan have surrounded me. :14. They have opened their mouth wide against me :like a mauling and roaring lion. :15. I am poured out like water :and all of my bones are disjointed; :my heart is like wax; :it is melted like wax in the midst of my interior. :16. My strength has dried up like a potsherd :and my tongue clings to the roof of my mouth :and you place me in the dust of death, :17. because dogs have surrounded me; :a company of evildoers has encompassed me; :they have pierced my hands and my feet. :18. I can count all of my bones; :they look, they gaze at me. :19. They divide my clothes among themselves :and cast a lot for my garment. :20. My praise among a great community is from you; :I will fulfil my vows in the presence of those who fear Him; :27. The afflicted will eat and be satisfied; :those who seek him will praise YHWH. :May your heart live forever! :28. YHWH refines the righteous person, :but his soul hates the wicked person, who loves violence. :6. May he rain traps on wicked people! :May the portion in their cup be fire, brimstone, and a scorching wind! :7. For YHWH is righteous; he loves righteous acts; :the upright people will look at his face.   +

All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt; :there is no one who does good; there is not even one. :4. Do they not understand – all those who do evil, :who eat my people as they have eaten food, :who have not called upon YHWH? :5. Then they would have feared a fear, :because God is with the righteous group. :6. You would put to shame the insight of the oppressed, :because YHWH is his refuge. :7. Oh, that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion! :When YHWH restores the fortunes of his people, :let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!   +
:1. For the director. By the Korahites. A ''maskil''. :2. God, we have heard [it] with our ears— :Our ancestors have recounted to us :the deeds which you did in their times— :in times long ago :3. You, by your strength, dispossessed nations, and then you planted them. :You would afflict the people groups, and then you would set them free. :4. For they did not take possession of the land by means of their sword; :nor did their power give victory for them. :But rather your right hand, and your power, and the light of your countenance [gave the victory]; :for you were pleased with them. :5. You are my king, my God, :commanding victory for Jacob! :6. With you, we can gore our adversaries; :under your authority, we can tread down our enemies. :7. Indeed, I cannot trust in my bow, :nor can my sword give me victory. :8. But rather you delivered us from our adversaries; :and you put our enemies to shame. :9. We have been boasting in God all day long, :and we will keep declaring your name forever. ''Selah''. :10. Even so, you have rejected [us]—that is, you have put us to shame. :And you do not go forth with our armies. :11. You sell your people without compensation, :and you have not made a profit by them. :14. You turn us into an object of scorn to our neighbors— :An object of scornful derision to those who surround us. :15. You turn us into a parable among the nations— :An object of pity among the people groups. :16. All day long, my shame is before me, :and my shamefacedness has covered me, :17. because of the voice of the reviling taunter, :because of the vengeful enemy. :18. All this has come upon us, even though we have not neglected you; :Nor have we broken faith with your covenant. :19. Our heart has not backslid— :that is, our steps have not deviated from your path. :20. Yet you have crushed us in the place of jackals, :and thus you have covered us with deepest shadow. :21. If we have neglected our God's name— :that is, if we had spread our palms in prayer to another god— :22. could not God investigate this, :since he knows the heart's secrets? :23. Yet we have been killed because of you all day long. :We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. :24. Awake! Why do you sleep, Lord? :Wake up! Do not keep rejecting [us] forever! :25. Why are you hiding your countenance? :Why are you neglecting our affliction and oppression? :26. For our soul has sunk down into the dust; :our belly clings to the earth. :27. Arise to our aid, :and redeem us because of your faithfulness!
