Psalm 118
Purpose: To joyfully give thanks to YHWH for his loyalty.
Content: Give thanks to YHWH for he is good, for his loyalty is forever! From a tight place I cried out to YHWH, and YHWH answered me with spaciousness.
Message: YHWH is good and his loyalty is forever. Rejoice and give thanks!

- 1. Give thanks to YHWH because he is good,
- because his loyalty is forever.
- 2. Let Israel say,
- “Because his loyalty is forever”.
- 3. Let the house of Aaron say,
- “Because his loyalty is forever”.
- 4. Let those who fear YHWH say,
- “Because his loyalty is forever”.
- 5. From the tight place I cried out to Yah.
- Yah answered me with spaciousness.
- 6. YHWH is for me. I shall not fear.
- What can man do to me?
- 7. YHWH is for me as my helper,
- and I shall look in triumph upon those who hate me.
- 8. It is better to take refuge in YHWH
- than to trust in man.
- 9. It is better to take refuge in YHWH
- than to trust in noblemen.
- 10. All nations surrounded me.
- “With the name of YHWH, yes, I shall drive them away!”
- 11. They surrounded me, indeed they surrounded me.
- “With the name of YHWH, yes, I shall drive them away!”
- 12. They surrounded me like bees.
- They burned up like a fire of thorns.
- “With the name of YHWH, yes, I shall drive them away!”
- 13. You pushed me down hard so that I was falling,
- but YHWH helped me.
- 14. Yah is my strength and song
- and he has become my salvation.
- 15. A voice of rejoicing and salvation
- is in the tents of the righteous:
- “The right hand of YHWH does valiantly!
- 16. The right hand of YHWH exalts!
- The right hand of YHWH does valiantly!”
- 17. I shall not die, but I shall live,
- and declare the deeds of Yah.
- 18. Yah disciplined me hard,
- but he has not given me over to death.
- 19. Open the gates of righteousness for me.
- I will enter through them. I will give thanks to Yah.
- 20. This is the gate of YHWH.
- The righteous enter through it.
- 21. I thank you for you have answered me
- and become my salvation.
- 22. The stone that the builders rejected
- has become the top of the corner.
- 23. This has been from YHWH;
- it is extraordinary in our eyes!
- 24. This is the day that YHWH has made.
- Let us be glad and rejoice in it.
- 25. Please, YHWH, grant salvation, please!
- Please, YHWH, grant success, please!
- 26. Blessed is he who comes in the name of YHWH.
- We bless you from the house of YHWH.
- 27. YHWH is God and he has made his light shine on us.
- Bind the festival sacrifice with cords,
- up to the horns of the altar!
- 28. You are my God and I shall give thanks to you.
- You are my God. I shall exalt you.
- 29. Give thanks to YHWH because he is good,
- because his loyalty is forever.
