v. 24 – The alternative infinitive represents Jerome's Hebr. et pluit super eos man ut comederent "and he rained over them manna so that they would eat." The interpretation of "to eat" adjectivally modifying the manna has been preferred, however. Cf. the SG21's il a fait pleuvoir sur eux de la manne comme nourriture (lit. "He made rain over them manna as food").
