In short, the word הִגִּיד, although it usually refers to an act of verbal communication,[1] probably refers here to a non-verbal demonstration: he showed.[2] The following lamed prepositional phrase in v. 6b probably specifies the way in which YHWH demonstrated the strength of his works: by giving them nations as an inheritance.
  • The construct chain (נַחֲלַת גּוֹיִם, 'inheritance of nations') probably refers to an inheritance consisting of nations, rather than an inheritance which belongs to the nations.[3].
