Notes The form וְיִסְּרֵ֕נִי is difficult. As it stands, the linking vowel ē suggests an imperfect form, which would necessitate analyzing this as Qal, otherwise we'd expect something like יִסְּרַנִי (cf. Psa 118:18). As a Qal, the conjugation here is yiqtol instead of the expected wayyiqtol, which is difficult to make sense out of.
