v. 1 The initial construct phrase (both here and in the following verse) headed by אַשְׁרֵ֥י is a Hebrew idiom communicating an exclamative fragment: [Oh, look at] the happiness of those who... It has been translated as a verbless clause from a very early stage, as exemplified by the LXX: "Happy are those whose lawless behavior was forgiven."[1]
