Psalm 22/Notes/Phrasal.v. 8.489161
From Psalms: Layer by Layer
v. 8 – Because Biblical Hebrew contains no example of hiphil לעג followed by the experiencer without a preposition,[1] it is a target language issue whether to translate the verb phrase with a construction that does not require a prepositional phrase, such as "Everyone who sees me mocks me" (CSB) or one that does not, such as "All who see me jeer at me" (CJB). As a standard example of לְ as "experienced relationship,"[2] we prefer the former.
