The adverbial accusative "way" (דֶּרֶךְ) could be "in the way"[1] or "from the way."[2] The expression is probably synonymous with "the way of wicked people will come to an end."[3] Both expressions are figures of speech for death and destruction: "a person comes to an end on his way/life" = "a person's way/life comes to an end" = "a person dies." Thus, GNT: "you will suddenly die."

  1. ESV; cf. CSB: "in your rebellion;" REB: "in middle course;" NLT: "in the midst of all your activities;" so R. Sforno: כ׳דרך׳ שהוא עושה כאשר ׳יבער כמעט אפו׳.
  2. KJV; cf. LXX trans. NETS: "and you will perish from [ἐξ] the righteous way."
  3. Ps 1:6; so Radak, Rashi.
