I. Preparation to go to the city . (1-2)
- A. I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
- B. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
II. Praise for the city. (3-5)
- A. Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together.
- B. This is where the tribes of the Lord go up, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
- C. For there are set thrones of judgment of the house of David.
III. Prayer for the city. (6-9)
- A. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee.
- B. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
- C. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, “Peace be within thee.”
- D. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
