  • The participle עֹמֶדֶת functions as the main predication of the clause with present/timeless semantics: endures.[1]
  1. ↑ So LXX: μένει; Jerome: perseverans; cf. Ps 1:6. This might be one indication that Ps 111 is a late text (cf. Gordon 1982:5, 11). But there are examples of timeless / generic aspect participles in earlier texts as well (e.g., 1 Sam 2:6–10; cf. Notarius 2010).
