Steps[ ]

Formatting (Script Editor)[ ]

1. Create a copy of the Template for Overview Scripts and rename it "Psalm ### Overview Script (Non-ESL)."
2. Download the At-a-Glance chart from Miro and replace the image in the Google doc under the At-a-Glance heading.
3. Download the Emotional Overview visual from Miro and replace the image in the Google doc under the Emotional Overview heading.
4. Create appropriate headings and subheadings to correspond to the sections in the At-a-Glance chart.
5. Copy the CBC from the forum and replace the CBC for the entire psalm in the Conclusion.
6. Insert the CBC in the Commentary section, separating each verse into the appropriate headings. Indent the CBC by 0.5".
7. Introduction: Update the title of the psalm.
8. Send the document to the Script Writer.
9. Post-written formatting
a. Emotional analysis: Bold each emotion in the script.
b. Commentary: In the text, any quotes from the CBC should be italicized, especially when discussing the specific words or phrases in the text.
10. Post the script draft to the forum for review along with the rubric.

Content (Script Writer)[ ]

1. Meet with the Guardian of the psalm to discuss an overview of the psalm, their findings, and any recommendations for what elements should be incorporated into the script.
2. Introduction:
a. One sentence summary of the contents of the psalm
b. One sentence summary of the purpose of the psalm
c. At-a-Glance chart:
i. One-two sentence overview of psalm structure, listing the major sections in the psalm as shown on the At-a-Glance chart.
ii. Explain any text that has a different font color or is bolded or any other unusual elements on the At-a-Glance chart
d. Emotional analysis: Cover the emotions of each section or of the psalm as a whole.
3. Commentary
a. Each section and subsection should have a brief, one or two sentence introduction/transition.
b. Bold key words or words that should be emphasized in the reading of the script.
4. Conclusion: Overview everything discussed, typically section-by-section.

  • The effect of the overall structure plus verse-by-verse commentary is to enable the reader to understand “why this verse and why here.”

  • Script is clear and concise.
  • As much as possible, ESL-friendly words and sentences are used.
